Hi, I’m having a problem with my manitou, basically all hydraulic functions work perfectly however if the steering wheel isn’t moved for around 10-20 seconds, all functions stop until the steering wheel is moved again, only a slight movement is needed, there are no warning lights and all filters/oils are in good condition.

Bit of a pain around the yard! Any help is greatly appreciated, many thanks in advance, Scott

Normal for that model, pilot circuit is charged via the steering, so long as you can get 6 to 8 inputs from the joystick with out touching the steering then its normal. if you having to move steering for every joystick movement then needs the accumulator and pilot supply valve replacing.

Hi @ACEngineering , thanks for the reply, I thought it was probably a normal function however I think it is occurring a little too quickly, would it be worth checking the pressure in the accumulator? And if so, where on the machine would it be located? Very little knowledge of Manitous!
Thankyou again

There is no test port for pilot so you need to locate port U on the accumulator supply block (block the accumulator is screwed on to. Tee a gauge in there and it should be 35 to 40 bar i think when you turn the steering to charge it, then you want to switch it off and watch the gauge while pressing aux button or moving the stick see how long it takes for the pressure to drop which i think is normally 6 to 8 movements of the stick or button presses if your lucky.

This model isn't ideal for static yard work moving machinery, lifting engines/gearboxes out etc as you have to turn the steering all the time to keep pilot topped up and working.
