Are you happy with the way your crops are looking? Any slug damage?
Very happy with the way autumn drilled cereals are looking drilled with the DTS (Weaving tine drilled into ploughed land a different matter in places!!), there were a few slugs about in November but a dose of Sluxx on affected fields has kept them at bay, another year and a wetter Oct, Nov, Dec and it might be a bit more of an issue but hopefully one i can keep on top of with the straw rake and timely applications of good pellets. My DTS drilled OSR looks pretty rubbish honestly, drilled 70ac, written off 45ac. I don't believe it's any fault of the drill as it put the seed into what small amount of moisture was there at the time of drilling, the problem was the juvenile slugs underground eating seeds (not coming to the surface to eat slug pellets!) and the lack of rainfall for 3 weeks after drilling and beyond (65mm in total for Aug, Sept and Oct here) that pretty much wrote off a lot of crops in this area. If we had cultivated or ploughed we would have lost all the moisture, if we had baled the straw again we would have lost a lot more moisture than we did anyway. I think if we try again next year (undecided atm) we will go with a conventional variety at a higher seed rate, liquid fert down with the seed and slug pellets with the seed as well, roll twice if necessary and wait until we know its going to rain rather than just drill because of the date! Spring crops a little way off being drilled yet, Must...Be...Patient!!!

The leg is about 1/2 deeper than the seed boot, legs aren't far off being done, beans I'd say sit in the bottom pretty much, have the coulter up a little when it's damp as I get a lot less hassle with blockages.

How deep have you got the coulters?

Couple from here this spring:
Drilling Propino Barley @200kg/ha into raked wheat stubble, far far better conditions than last Spring!

Did do 20 acres of Propino into overwintered ploughing so not all eggs are in the same basket and gives a comparison of BG control, drilled 2 weeks earlier than the above on 16/3/17. Looks alright so far.

Couple of pics of Belepi when I was field walking the other day, sown 3/11/16 @165kg/ha into raked wheat stubble.

Even the headlands look good!

Thanks, W Barley, 2nd Wheats and S barley all looking decent this year, most of the 1st wheats look ok though got a few very thin patches due to dry clods at drilling and slugs post drilling (ploughed land and not drilled with the DTS though). OSR was a disaster but not really the drills fault as everybodys acreage in this area was near enough a write off though we do still have 25 acres out of the 70 we drilled but not expecting much more than 1t/ac. Majority of the S Beans are looking ok but those drilled a bit later into slightly heavier ground are suffering a bit from lack of moisture and not the greatest seedbeds. As per many others most things could do with a drink now, anything drilled direct into stubble is holding up better than ploughed stuff.
