@Adeptandy is right. The correct calibration for osr in one half will mean an uncontrollable seed rate in the others. You would want a separate metering system for the companion crop. For what you were suggesting, you'd need to play around with seed species for variable seed size to get something close to a rough seed rate you wanted. Any second hand Rotor Meters, Wizards or Techneat Terracasts around? You could feed the pipes into the coulters so you'd have separate controls for each.

Judging by my sprayer window as I pre-em the wheat there is a fresh flight of flea beetle today:(, along with an population explosion of ladybirds:).
I have noticed exactly that here too. Decided to patch some drill misses by hand 3 weeks ago it’s been very slow emerging and is now at full cotyledon and being hammered by csfb. Can’t see the point in delaying drilling on this evidence. Rest of field drilled 3 weeks previous a good size.

Some a bit further forwards and some a bit behind this but nothing is causing concern

All of it is shot holed from CSFB but no insecticides were used

I noticed the ladybirds this afternoon too, whilst rolling some WW, the tractor windows were covered with them, nice to see.

Wonder where they all came from? All different sorts here. Can’t help but think a lot probably find much to eat now. Many were freshly emerged judging by their colouring.

I've been looking at converting my Freeflow as I can split the hopper quite easily and re pipe for every other then use the other half for CC but I'm still on the same metering shaft so thats why the rate issue on my plan :scratchhead:

I use this for drilling osr, sorry it’s not a very good picture but I have 3 stocks boxes on the back 2 for osr and 1 for slug pellets. It could be for sale. Drilled first week in September first pass through with the sprayer today. Barbados/campus mix 50/50

Is the tractor behind you pulling a set of rolls or a harrow or drag?

Andy, you could probably get away with one seed meter shaft if you pre-mixed OSR seed with eg elemental sulphur pellets

I thought about doing that with the CC, but knowing my luck I'd end up with patches of both

OSR was crawling with CSFB last night, no sign of them this morning, back into hiding I guess

On Thursday 26th September, we’re holding a webinar for farmers to go through the guidance, actions and detail for the expanded Sustainable Farming Incentive (SFI) offer. This was planned for end of May, but had to be delayed due to the general election. We apologise about that.

Farming and Countryside Programme Director, Janet Hughes will be joined by policy leads working on SFI, and colleagues from the Rural Payment Agency and Catchment Sensitive Farming.

This webinar will be...
