Does anyone think that the country / agriculture show circuit will return next year.
Only 4 months until the first big one in Scotland, the Spring Show, and I can't see how it can go ahead in any format.
Is it a cass of expecting no shows until a vaccine is available?

could have a vaccine by the spring

the situation change quickly
50000 people injecting at 50 per day is 2.5 million a day a month to do the whole country once
where there is a will there is a way
this time last year the only problem here was no one had done any autumn drilling

They are wanting it to go ahead but in a different format. Can't see machinery guys bothering if there isn't going to be same amount of people going.

I don't think there will be shows again next year if covid starts killing a large amount of people again between now and Christmas.

The issue will be the convergence of folk to get social distancing from the car park, to the show area, then on the show site, then worst of all in the mart building. Surely this is going to be nigh on impossible to achieve. Also would there need to be a track and trace details taken.
This year show was lucky a month later and it wouldn't have gone ahead.
Speaking to folk on the committee of other local show they believe that 2021 will be a write off,
I would say its totally irresponsible to encourage the stall holders to travel from all over the country and covid hotspots to a current and hopefully will continue to be a low covid area.
I wouldnt like to be the person signing it off,
But good luck to whoever does

a local farmer's wife who is a nurse won't be having the vaccine because of possible side effects, neither will I
I would put money on no shows next year at all including vintage rallies

As a manufacturer point of view. We go to show to meet people, be it new and old customers. We need to meet enough new people to get enough new sales to help cover the running costs of the business each year. Sadly there are just too many shows and it was due a change to how many we could attend . ( speaking as a whole bit my particular company) . Covid-19 has just accelerated this decision. Lamma this year was greats as the quality of customers was perfect. I simply can’t see how it can work if no vaccine is found. People just won’t take the risk.

Can't see anything happening for at least a year.

A vaccine won't be ready.how long did it take them to get one for the flu.

2 of my mates have currently got covid both say.felt a lot worse.think I'd take my chances with covid than a dodgy vaccine

Now I know this thread is about shows and the likelihood of them going ahead or otherwise, and many have articulated their points better than I for them happening or otherwise,
But,
@serf @startinghandleit is your choice not take a vaccine.
This antivax crap really is sh!t,
So for clarity please tell us which vaccines are killing and damaging people or animals.
More specifically where the vaccination outcomes are worse than the disease in question,
And while we are at it the mortality rate in your livestock that are not vaccinated.
Thanks

With the average age and BMI of a farmer an outbreak of Corvid from a show would have a serious effect!

The vaccine will be safe. Hence the billions of money spent on trials and time to get it to market. As far as I’m aware they are using existing vaccine technology anyway.

In the late 50's there was an anti sickness drug for pregnant women called thalidomide which caused deformities in lots of children and there is no guarantee it won't happen again

Small pox killed 100s of millions of people over it 2000 years of existence
vaccine eliminated it
we have vaccines for many desease now days
diptheria polio mumps German measels the side effects are minor compared to the long term effects of the diseases

The worry is that this vaccine is being done in a hurry for political reasons and not being tested for long enough to see if it has major side effects!
Vast majority of people survive cv19 [dury still out on long cv19]
So may be better off taking their chances than trying this new vaccine , who knows ?

Correct to worry, but it’s not. The regulators in GB and Europe will not be pressurised by politics as they are well aware that safety is paramount. Different story in some countries though as they see it as a political race.
