We have done ours twice so far this season, will do them twice more, spotinor for the last 3 seasons hereWe have had a great response to spotinor this week, seems to be more effective than swish here but obviously every year is different
Exactly this, bit like shutting the stable door after the horse has bolted. It's not that you need to treat for flies in April/May for a product to work, it's just if you leave it until flies are already bothering the cows then the population will already have built up and there are more to control.
What a barn. Make a lovely houseYeah not ideal... she was chasing the kids lucky she stopped there really...View attachment 976017
When it didn’t work, did you do all the cattle you had around, houses stock around the yard as well? Or just the cows. Midden or some other source that they could grow on near by and then jump on tge cows as they come inI understand the logic of that. But we tried it last season and the flies were as bad as ever and the stuff only seemed affective for a few days.this but we haven’t done the milkers at all and at this moment idon t think we will have too. I am sceptical as too there affective ness after all these yrs.
Great snap! That could be a postcardYeah not ideal... she was chasing the kids lucky she stopped there really...View attachment 976017

We don’t have any housed cattle in the summer. All loose houses were cleaned out early. Haven’t done got round to cleaning out sheds so far this season. All,I can say is long live late April Frost’s !When it didn’t work, did you do all the cattle you had around, houses stock around the yard as well? Or just the cows. Thanks everyone, you wouldn't believe how often that happens
Regarding bactoscans I have good and bad news
Normal evening collection came back with a bactoscan of 13
Yesterday mornings collection which only had yesterday mornings milk in it came back with a bactoscan of...
117

I'll ring them tomorrow that's sounds like a good plan! Thanksget a test kit from QMMS and sample every tank full after AM and PM for a week, catch it out of the milk line before the tank and then out of the tank, narrowing it down makes it less daunting.
