Surely if they can do this we can do it with other crops and cut our imports. Passed the Carrington yard yesterday, it gets bigger every time I go past!! We used to have pony club camp there but you would not recognise the place now!!

As long as they don't do all round broccoli it's fine but it cant be cheap to do. I presume it runs on the AD plant so a byproduct of electricity is food. Thats new.
I correct myself i think some of the old coal powered powerstations used to do tomatoes.

If you read the article on UKfarming they are using the heat the electric and everything, surely we could do veg that way!! @Lowland1 !! Staples my next door nieghbours, Nundys, and others must be shaking in their boots!!

There’s a crocodile farm in France that uses the waste heat from the local nuclear station.

Had a fascinating visit to Thanet Earth, they produce about 400 million tomatoes a year using terrific tech. But they were frank that it was the RHI that gave the best margins, and that getting a decent premium to have British tomatoes all winter was a challenge as imported were cheaper.
