yeah, a bumper like i made ,like a slide hammer with a big d on the end that goes through the yolk/hard spicer joint ill see if i can find a pic. actually its on here somewhere...
the old lump hammer head slides along on an old tyre lever iirc, D just welded on at an angle to allow its pin to through through the uj iyswim.

leave the shaft on the machine mind to do it so the other end is held firm whilst you bump away.

Got a similar problem here. The PTO is stuck on the short PTO of the implement. I've tied a few days of penetrating oil and a big hmmer and a punch but it's not moving. I am thinking it must be thread locked on, so heat next. But I think you are saying it's the guards that are stuck? Quite a few videos on Youtube, but nothing that works for me, though yet to try attaching one end to an immoveable object and the tractor on the other end.

guards ok , just they are a length that you cant vice grip the shaft without fkn the guards up , there is only few ins either end to grip just the uj really , so you can get hammer on other end ,typical the covers are like new , will give the ratchet strap idea a go first i think ,

Put the shaft on the tractor... chock the wheels of the rake and drive forwards... rake will pull over the chocks before anything serious breaks and will pull the shaft out if It’s gonna come
I wouldn't recommend that. Likely to do more damage to other parts. Namely the locking pins. If they get distorted then you've got bigger problems

God only knows how but I’m sure it was something to do with the push out hitch but few years ago I had a challenge to remove a tanker PTO shaft off a tractor. In end had to remove the stub, strip down the UJ and press the stub out of the yoke. The shaft splines had actually re shaped the loking pin wedging it solid!! It was actually creaking as it was shifting in the press!!

thats why you put a brick in front of the wheels if it doesn’t want too come it’ll roll over the bricks... locking pins aren’t the end of the world too change my Nan could change a set of locking pins I’d be more worried about what ever holds the shaft in than the locking pins but again a brick in front of the tyres isn’t gonna break a heavy circlip or bolts...

I have the PTO shaft stuck on the machine and the locking pin is out. Can't work out why tapping with a 7lb hmmer and a punch won't move it. There isn't much rust.
Yokes often wear sideways. Making them into a kind of bayonet. Any slight step or burr internally will totally bugger the job

Years ago the shaft on our dung spreader got stuck tied it out of a girder at one end and put a chain on the other end out of the toplink of the new Holland left plenty of slack in the chain and got a good shock at it ,the pin broke at the tractor and broke the back housing of the tractor I thing it cost 900 for a new housing ,an expensive lesson/ ,
