Mowing 75 acres now for haylage hopefully get it nearly there by Wednesday and if it does rain it's surface water on not over mature grass so should shake off easily Thurday to bale. That's the plan..fingers crossed.
Still got 700 acres to get so got take a chance.

I don't feel just so bad that I have 30acres of first cut left now [emoji15]

Mowed it Friday afternoon and left it till yesterday afternoon to throw about

It got damp Saturday morning but dried up and the wind got blowing.
Threw it about a few times today, it was roasting and blowy, too blowy in fact, I had to turn and row up across the slope/ploughing... bouncy as hell(n) Because the wind was blowing the bouts over.

Slowed me right down, but it's baled.

I've accidentally tedded fields for the wrong people several times over the years. Sometimes directions like "past the church, on the left" could refer to several options. If "you can't miss it" is included in the description, there's a very good chance that you can!

A couple of years ago I spotted a contractor's rake turn up in an 80acre field of my wet straw. I had a quick check that rain was still forecast later that day before I went and pointed out to the lad that the straw was nothing to do with them. I suggested he could accidentally turn it in a few days when the forecast was better, but he didn't come back!
One of our neighbours employed a new lad and sent him to spread some fertilizer on a field. The lad must have got a bit confused when his new boss told him where the field was because he spread it on our field instead ;)

I have kept half an eye on Corbyn senior [Yes - as in Jeremy] who has run an interesting weather site for a good while - here:
http://www.weatheraction.com/
It is visually about the worst website on the planet [clearly managed by the owner - typical scientist] but I would be interested in whether any of the predications available here:
http://www.weatheraction.com/pages/pv.asp?p=wact41
were any good. In the past there seemed to be some quite solid longer term forecasts - a month or so and I have oft wondered about the accuracy.

Enjoy, for many and varied reasons. :)

I too was intrigued by Corbyn senior and did pay for a few of his forecasts a few years ago, but never found them that accurate or useful. Thats not to say he's a crank, its entirely possible that his method is capable of predicting the more extreme weather events, he certainly seems to major on that sort of thing - big storms, heatwaves, blizzards etc. The day to day weather seems to be less his thing.

I doubt very much these days that they can accurately forecast Christmas.

Many moons ago I used to subscribe to Piers Corbyn's weather forecasts when it cost £12/year and he would regularly place a bet with William Hill about this time of the year on what the weather would be on Christmas Day and I think he won about 80% of the time. However he then launched into a PLC and issued shares on the stock exchange an the forecasts went from £12 to £500 which was a tad over the current rate of inflation so I dropped out.
His theory is that weather isn't random at all but is affected by solar activity and by studying solar flares enables him to predict the weather at least 6 months in advance. Because of this theory he is also of the opinion that global warming is actually nonsense as it is all down to solar activity.
Whilst I had the forecasts for many years I would say he was right about 70-80% of the time although some months he got completely wrong. When you compare the accuracy of this to the likes of the Met Office I can't help but think that he may well be right.
