I don't really understand what he's saying, he signed up for a scheme he can't deliver on because the climates isn't right and now he's tied in, unable to restock nor deliver on the scheme?

as I read it , things looked great for a while following de-stocking , but have now turned the other way, with the future looking bleak for carbon sequestration without stock .
The lesson there is surely not to de-stock but to allow farmers to stock the land appropriately in order to achieve the best outcome for everyone.

Oh, and the other lesson to the fraudsters' clients is to simply cut down on burning fossil fuels. It's fossil fuels that are heating the planet, not livestock.

The aussies planted loads of trees fifteen yr ago on cropping land for carbon
All got ripped out again
No. A lot of farms were bought up in Victoria's high rainfall zone in the south west for planting blue gums. Was for wood chip production, not for carbon . Was also a dodgy managed investment scheme.. Was also on grazing land , not cropping country. Couldn't return there promised returns to investors and went belly up. Farms sold off for less than purchase price in most cases.

Carbon credits are a trap. Lure you in with promises of big money and then when it doesn't work your left holding the can when their over optimistic projections can't be achieved.
The farmer in the article is lucky he isn't paying for the difference for the carbon that isn't there. He still might have to I suppose as his land degrades and what has already been paid out for starts disappearing.
