Pladis UK&I, the company behind biscuit brands such as McVitie’s and Carr’s has announced plans to expand its 'Back to Farm' scheme.

With a commitment to continue using 100% British wheat in their products, pladis UK&I are targeting a new group of farmers in the south of England to directly supply Group 3 or biscuit wheat to the company.

Launched in 2015, more than 216 farms in Northumberland and East Anglia are already part of the scheme, and pladis UK&I are hopeful the success of the initiative can be rolled out further across the country.

Unlike many other UK manufactures, pladis UK&I sources its wheat directly through farms or grain cooperatives, helping boost the supply of Group 3 wheat which has declined in popularity with growers.
