Banks Not Keeping Promises and Busy Post Offices

When all of the banks closed down in our area we were initially told that not to worry we will send a mobile bank twice a week to your Town.

Well C19 soon put a stop to the mobile service and I doubt that will ever come back again.

So the next best option was we were told the Post Office, where we have a dedicated envelope to put cheques in and were told this would be credited to your account the next working day as it was sent first class.
I am sure I am not alone in finding this is now drifting to 3 or even 4 days after taking to the Post Office and while I have complained to Lloyds they were unable to explain why this was taking so long.

Now most of my customers have moved to 21st century and pay direct into the bank, unfortunately the local market still refuses to do that and continues with cheques which at this time of the year can be for significant amounts. The irony is that the market and my account are the same bank and branch!

I like to support the local Post Office as they are an essential part of the community, however with so many people now shopping on line there are regularly long queues with people taking parcels back. So it can take a fair time to be served if you time it wrong. The Post Office have said they will now start a home collection service for returns for 72p a pick up, however my Postman has said that he is often overloaded now at the start of his round and will need a larger van and will not have the time to collect as well as deliver mail.

Lloyds here and my local post office won’t take business cheques. It’s not too much hassle for me to go to town for the odd cheque I get. I do get really annoyed by the large companies that still write cheques there is no need these days.

Apparently you need " barcodes " to pay cheques in via the post office now. 🤷‍♂️

Anyhoo, I've made a start on trying to get involved with internet banking now.(n)

Was just thinking to myself, we've gone from high street banks with a tried and tested system of banking to f**k all within the space of 3 years. Disgraceful. Twa-ts with apps are taking over the planet.

If it's over the online amount to pay in with the phone. I have the Post Office do it and I'm finding it's done and dusted a day earlier than posting it to Barclays myself.

Tell the mart that if they insist on using the " we only pay by cheque" delaying tactic then you need a series of cheques each made out to under the photo paying in app. limit
Sometimes I have to just be thankful the cheque actually cover all the animals I took in on that day :cautious: Even my spell checker does not recognise cheques!

Just checked. £1000 with Barclays you can now pay in.

Barclays have banked all my cheques put in their envelopes via the post office since my local branch closed.
Mostly from my local abattoir for 5-6k. Still working to get them on BACCS!
Very easy and shows in account within 24hr usually

Edit. Sorry I believe your talking about the banking photo app!
