Will the price of the barley now around £150\t vs £330 for 16% nuts. Is barley beef back, and the best way to feed it. Thinking of buying some Aa x calves from a local dairy herd and then putting barley in to them ...?

Waste of time for dairy bred cattle. ( unless under TB and home bred )

If doing Barley beef go and buy some 5/6 month old suckler reared bulls.

AAx won’t be the best breed for barley beef though… you get small fat carcasses. It works, don’t get me wrong. But continentals are better on the barley beef job if you’re starting with calves and going right through on the trough

Not sure about that, if you look at the amount of barley been drilled in place of wheat...
Theres a lot of drowned crops that will be being ripped up and replaced with spring barley in the next couple of weeks as the ground starts to dry up....hopefully!
