Ok loads out there now, what's the best farm one to buy, will be used for some fencing/stewedship clearance, bit of wood around for the house, and some building jobs, not massive trees.

Milwaukee was what I'm thinking, I don't have and cordless kit so it's a start of collection!

Dewalt is good, 9ah battery

Bit plasticky, but the bare unit isn't actually big money.... the battery is.

Chains on battery saws are very small profile and fiddly to sharpen.

But I'm proper impressed with the saw as a general purpose fencing saw and for de- branching trees before logging the trunk with petrol saw

I've got Makita, 2x18v ,,you get about 20mins continuouse use from 2 x5ah ,slightly more from the 6ah.
Price of batteries have jumped this last year like everything else but there are deals and discounts on ebay at times .
Depending on how much work away from home you are doing, you will need extra batteries so starting from scratch can get expensive.

The only battery chainsaw I have experience with is the Husqvarna & I would rate it highly
But - I have Makita cordless tools, so if I was buying one for myself it would be Makita. From what I hear, they are very good also

I have a Makita top handle chain saw, and find it very good for de branching and control of thinner growth, be prepared to have several batteries if you have a lot of work as I find they run out of energy before I do.

i think for that sort of work, a top handle saw, an electric one would be ideal. I would definitely buy one for that 👍

Echo has a big 58V battery and plenty of power, not the lightest to handle though. Doesn't matter what brand of battery tools you have, if the battery is only made for one tool (as is with Echo).

I have a Stihl and two batteries
Great for chopping a few branches
Firewood
Hedge chopping etc
Cuts up to about forearm diameter and lasts about 20 mins

easy peasey
Just remember to push the chain brake and pop the battery up when your not using it so it cant be activated

On Thursday 26th September, we’re holding a webinar for farmers to go through the guidance, actions and detail for the expanded Sustainable Farming Incentive (SFI) offer. This was planned for end of May, but had to be delayed due to the general election. We apologise about that.

Farming and Countryside Programme Director, Janet Hughes will be joined by policy leads working on SFI, and colleagues from the Rural Payment Agency and Catchment Sensitive Farming.
