Just wondering what sort of contracts and prices people are on for B & B pigs weaners and fattener's ? anyone getting any joy negotiating higher rates atm. ?

I was just thinking of asking this. Been on same rate for a couple of years now here. Finished pig price nearly at all time high so will be asking for more soon.

Systems vary (ie what you're required to do for your money)
We're finishing on straw, all in all out pretty much, have been for 30+ yrs now, paid per pig as it leaves. Not paid for deaths but don't pay disposal. Wash out periodically (not every batch by a long way)

With the drop in sow numbers, finishing space isn't as hard to come by as it was. There is, however, still demand for the better sites.

Yes, continuous flow though move stores out of weaner sheds into finishing ones and then fill up straight away with more weaners

Never done it, take it they provide everything, but you're providing your own straw so you'd need to be an arable place to make it worthwhile. Not a lot of money that anyway.

Yes need a supply of straw plenty willing to do muck for straw in many areas. Guess the money all depends on what you consider a lot. Couple of redundant cattle sheds 100 x 50 house 1000 weaners 500 finishers 50k+ a year for couple hours work a day average. would imagine finances very questionable if had to put up new build today though

I’m just in early negotiations to fill an 80x45 with weaners, 14kg to 30kg then gone, RSPCA Freedom foods stocking rates, will hold just over 500 he tells me. What would be good rate per head or by month for the shed?
