⭐⭐️AYR- THURSDAY 18th AUGUST 2022⭐⭐

Messrs Craig Wilson Ltd sold 2506 sheep at their first sale of Breeding Sheep.

The show was kindly sponsored by Carrs Billington (Ayr Branch) and the show was ably judged by Mr Jamie Shennan, Knockgerran, Girvan who awarded the Champion pen of Gimmers to Messrs J Paterson, East Dykes which realised £230.

However, topping the Mule Gimmers was Messrs G Allan, Highfield Place for a fantastic pen of 7 Gimmers making £255 coming in a close second was John Guild, Laight Farm for another pen of 7 beauties making £245.

The Reserve pen was awarded to Messrs R M Jamieson, Blacket House which sold for £200.

The Champion pen of Mule Ewe Lambs was awarded to Messrs Fleming, Firm of Shawhead for a pen of Crackers selling for £165.

The Reserve pen went to Messrs R M Dunlop, Pinvalley for a pen of 40 selling for £180.

Top Price was £182 for the third pen off Messrs Dunlop, Pinvalley.

Ewe Lambs Averaged £151.34 (+£3.94 on the year)
Gimmers Averaged £183.50 (+£1.19 on the year)

Mule Gimmers (Top Price Per Head)
£255 Highfield Place, £245 Laight (New Cumnock), £230 and £200 East Dykes, £200 Blacket House, £195 Laigh Langcraig, £192 Blacket House, £192 Craig, £190 Laight (New Cumnock), £188 East Dykes and Little Creoch.

Ewe Lambs (Top Price Per Head)
£182, £180 and £170 Pinvalley, £165 Shawhead and Craig, £160 Pennyvennie, £155 Garpel, £152 Shawhead, £150 Craig and Pinvalley, £148 Craig.

Lambs just never weigh at Dumfries hence dont send fats there anymore. Must take a brute of a lamb to get into the heavyweights there 😂

52kgs usually read 47-48kg in the ring 😂

It's strange, the lambs last week were weighed at home exactly same as yesterday's group - none of the heavier ones though... last week the ring said 40kg and I was expecting them to be 38-39kg. This week I expected 40kg and get 38.5kg - you can't follow them!

On Thursday 26th September, we’re holding a webinar for farmers to go through the guidance, actions and detail for the expanded Sustainable Farming Incentive (SFI) offer. This was planned for end of May, but had to be delayed due to the general election. We apologise about that.
