It depends on the breeding...well bred early 50s...badly bred...low to mid 40s...but if I am buying a fiver less

Will be very intresting to see what the store lamb price does this weekend at local markets.

No surprisingly. Did buy some nice lambs for £76.

We got a couple of pens of mule hoggs for £150, first mules in 5 years but like breeding my own gimmers... was plenty of small badly shaped things £60-75

They are a necessary evil!! Can't beat them for breeding replacements imo.

I don’t disagree but They need some more body tell all your fellow breeders. Get some body into them swales instead of those fine little things. There are a lot that a too narrow by a long way. I want to buy some lonks and a BFL tup to try at some point as I think it will make a good mule.

The bodies on them are awful now...so narrow and thin legged...that’s why I bought the ones I did, big broad chested ones, big strong legs

These were as big as shearlings...and I’d rather buy lambs...the substantial luck money helped the job

They were born inside in Jan/Feb.

I don’t know tbh, I was there and struggled to buy some gimmers at the prices they were going for, can’t see the sense in it when I am giving lambs away in the fat trade.
I didn’t get enough gimmers so waited to see the ewes at the end, it just seemed to get dearer and dearer.
There seems to be a 2 tier market at Longtown, if they have a whiteface they were flying trade but mule lambs looked cheap, pens and pens of nice mule lambs mid £70s

mule lambs looked cheap, pens and pens of nice mule lambs mid £70s

£75 is enough for running lambs, £3 to get them home, £1 to dip, £2.50 vaccines, £1 to treat all the lame ones people put in. So next day they have already cost you £82.50 before any die.

Only 5 cattle. Yes in hatherleigh. I anit got time this week tho, plus tb testing this week. Can you actually sell in between testing and reading your test?

They've all upt their kill numbers as very little coming in from Ireland .
