It’s actually a very clever way of trading. They will get more than dealer will offer for trade in. It’s cash in the bank until they need to buy new again. So all winter cash is sat in bank not in depreciating machines

Maybe, but it is likely there will be a price hike over the winter on machines?
I guess it makes a hug difference on whos money it is?

Yes but you can’t sell a machine on finance unless you actually own it so they will own all those. If price goes up, they have cash

well there was a farm sale a few years ago that sold all the old things first to get some cash , then as each lot was sold by the auctioneer they paid the finance company and sold it & worked there way throw the list
