Why are these people above the law ? so confident about it ?

There is a big difference between farming and fishing, you farm as if you will live forever, you fish to get everything before the others get it.

Shouldn't be necessary. As they found in NZ, if you totally ban fishing in some areas and let the area recover, fish and other marine life breeds up and then spreads out. It isn't rocket science.

Fishermen are their own worst enemies.

Not unknown for them to deliberately catch "out of quota" species so they can get on TV dumping them to show how "unworkable" the rules are.

A lot worse than that could happen. Net gets caught on boulder, stern pitches down as the lines go tight, big waves over the deck and down into the hull, and it's game over. Floating to sunk in minutes.
