I really would like to know how they justify that.

If only we had a section on TFF where they could respond to such questions

i have spoken to some of the right people at AHDB about this recently ......... they seem to agree

I will be writing to them formally as a levy payer to ask this question and would urge ALL other levy payers to do the same

there are significant changes to management going on at the AHDB and i believe they are keen to make changes that are positive for farmers

Lots of people very happy with the new chair of AHDB.
Breath of fresh air
Needed to be done years ago
No more ex NFU presidents at last!
Are some of the comments I have heard.

Off topic a little,
Also Christine Tacon with RT is welcome as well.
Another person not holding back.

@Clive I spoke with @Christine Watts at length yesterday about the current issues AHDB have with communication in social media. (both on FB and here on TFF)
I suggested that she contact you to discuss how TFF and AHDB could work together so that they can communicate much more effectively with their levy payers.

I do hope that she speaks with you soon

Well if the AHDB use TFF for a communication channel it will be interesting to see how other esteemed agricultural organisations respond 😉

Must be a sad do in the veg world to have all that vitriol in you. Cheer up ord lad, life's too short!
If I was a potato grower now I really would be sad ,two lousy years with no sign of it getting any better, my neighbour has just sold 300 ton of grade 1 nector for £60 disgraceful in 2021 were is the ahdb helping potato growers, we only needed 103 to force a ballot which means the is only 2000 left ,two letters this week from growers saying they won’t be voting because they are finishing growing, one was 400 acres and the other one was 1100 acres .

That's the gamble of the freebuy market - you have to take the lows to get the highs. I thought a man like you would know that's nowt to do with the AHDB.
Contracts aren't all sunshine & roses but do put some stability in the job.

Are you glad you came back @White rabbit ?
come on admit you missed the fray ?
i wont stay too long only to highlight the way the ahdb have treated our sector, they have come out this week saying it as been a mistake growers paying a levy on produce that goes through the Packhouse , well when was they going to tell us I guess sometime never, considering 80% of my produce goes through the Packhouse I estimate they have 200,000 pounds of my money that should have stayed in my bank, I think I ought to ring the police and say I have been scammed.

So, if that levy is a mistake are they going to repay it to you? If so
How many years back are they going to
go?

I am going to ask that very question at the next so called town hall meeting in February,I cannot believe she came out with statement , it also brings into question how long have they known and why didn’t they come forward years ago , one can only assume that the kept it to themselves and hoped no one picked up on it.

This admission is shocking they must be held to account and return the money overcharged I hope they will now admit it was also a mistake to charge potato growers a levy for unharvested potatoes left in the ground due to weather conditions.

Hello Simon I think they are in the middle of an earthquake we need to keep the pressure on they don’t know what direction to go at the moment.

Well attended this so called town hall meeting tonight, they knew I was waiting to ask this question but decided there was no time left. The main problem is saphir spend 25 minutes telling us what a fantastic business man he is and all the businesses he has turned round, one company was losing ten million a year and he changed this around in 6 months , he is one hell of a chap in his own estimation.

Did you seriously think they'd give you airtime? You must be deluded. It'd be akin to letting a fox sleep in your henhut cos it's raining!
