The Mrs had it done today. No major drama and all clear thank goodness. It has cast a bit of a shadow over Christmas though.

I have found once you get to this age that life becomes a series of rolling appointments, checks and tests. I have stopped worrying too much about it and just do as I'm told.

I have had the test done, results given to me, one polyp for removal. I have also now received an appointment for this coming Sunday afternoon for a ct scan of my upper abdomen, and a blood vessal scan after that .
It does seem that one test starts a process, but we can only hope that all is ok in our own cases . Of course it is normal to have fears, the very word Cancer is used all too often nowadays. I have my family behind me with their love and support, so long as you have that it does help massivly.

I had the CT scan done on Sunday, they put some sort of dye in my system to highlight the blood vessels. I now know what the ladies mean when they say they are having a " warm flush ", bit strange, a warm feeling down to your butt, and for some reason it stopped there.

Just have to wait now for the doctor to contact me with the results.

I am also waiting for an appointment to have the top end camera in to my stomach , and the removal of the polyp.

When all that is done I should know if I have the all clear.

Just one other thing to mention here, at the start of all of this for me was a visit to the doctor to see him about another slightly iffy problem that we don't talking about, and that was piles.

The doctor sent me to the hospital department that deals with them ,and the specialist was more concerned with other issues after examining me. So the problem I went with in the first instance ,has been put on the back burner.

The point here is that you might think that you have got a certain health problem, but when yo go to a specialist,it can throw up something of concern to them which is more of a priority.

My colonoscopy came back clear have a ct scan this sunday afternoon take the ct is straight forward just told me I have drink 500ml before going.

I have often found in the past that when dealing with doctors the second you get in the door of the consult room I get sort of side-tracked and forget the list of questions I had before I went in. Understandably you will have a variety of questions for all these specialists and consultants you meet in the ebb and flow of your dealings with the NHS, my advice is to write them down before you get in the door. They are usually experienced in knowing what they are on about but I have met a couple of very senior doctors who have some difficulty in disseminating information to members of the public because their area of speciality becomes second nature to them.

Question here of the sort I forgot to ask- men are often told to have the prostate check with the finger up the bottom, but would they have had a look there when they were doing the colonoscopy? I assume they would while they were down there.

Raising an old thread.............. got the appointment letter just before Christmas. Will receive the "DIY" enema pack in a couple of weeks.
Downside for me, its "at work" and I know the majority of the staff on the ward are what one would call totty!
One hopes there are no adverse reactions to having a nubile young wench furtling with your downstairs regions. :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::stop:

I was surrounded by nubile young ladies when I had mine done, but the combination of what they were about to do, and listening to their chat about who should win Strictly, put paid to any tremors down below. My enema kit got lost in the post, too, presumably as some dpd driver liked the look of it, so I had to have one at the hospital, which caused further anxiety which I won't elaborate on. :)
