They haven’t ruled out the option of scrapping the whole thing yet. That’s still on the table
Not looked closely yet, but had a free visit from an ADAS advisor yesterday who knew less than me, what a waist of time and money. Is the an option that would be a good break and control grass weeds.

It would be very assumptious of you to think that I have just guessed thati wouldn’t hold your breath
The reality is with current gov attitude it will continue to be a race to the bottom. Dont be surprised to see more intensive and productive land/farms in the same boat in 5-10yrs time.is that a bad thing ? produce food more intensifying where soils / climate suits and off set with subs to improve environment on land where soils / climates make that economic food production more marginal or even impossible ?
…… i suspect this is very intentional
All this talk of no one taking up sfi how many can actually say they banked 100% of there bps and will be able to manage on zero sub going forward
lot of arable will go out of production (33% here will and im sure i won’t be alone in that !) and we already export feed wheat so uk has been long short of enough livestock to eat it
i’m not saying this is good. …….. but it is reality
From an interview i saw that starmer did, he knows there is a problem with sfi but isnt going to ditch it. More sort it out, apparently.i wouldn’t hold your breath

If labour get in..
Kicking it into the long grass hoping for a genral election?IMO, there is a major ‘spanner in the works’ of the SFI.
Why after promising it would be out and we could apply in August is the only thing we get is an email asking if we might be interested in it?
Something must have gone seriously wrong and that email is an excuse for yet another cock-up on RPA’s behalf!
Interesting that they ask if we would be interested and that they will contact us back if we are or might be.
So they can ‘dump’ all those not interested or wont be doing SFI, straight away and discount them.
Doesn’t this prove that after all this time and starving us of BPS funds, that they cannot get it right?
I don’t want to do SFI but am forced to because we need the income. WTF can’t they just get it going?
Im stuggling to get arable payments any where near that which we could possibly achieve on our grass .Would you please be so good as to give a bit of a breakdown/ indication how you are thinking cos every one else ive spoken to is same as me on the arable other than the basics and fannying about with hedges and none is thinking of taking more than a few small areas out of production yet ? nor are they relying on future alterations to cultivations etcthink it will be way down their priority list
i think it’s a good scheme for arable and as more standards get added it will improve further - those arable growers it does not suit clearly have farms productive enough to not need subsidy
livestock / grassland needs more though no doubt about that
i don’t think i it’s a mess at all, it’s way better than bps in terms of tax payer value
bps was just plain wrong imo - handing tax payers cash to wealthy landowners ……. can’t see labour wanting to bring that back !!!!
Also whilst you’re on Clive. Could you give any ideas as to what you are going to do which gives better gross margins than osr. Wouldn’t surprise me.Kicking it into the long grass hoping for a genral election?
