Broiler chicken butchering?

What's the rules on broiler chicken dispatch, butchering, and then sale to general public? Doesn't seem to be an abbotior around that will process chickens for me. So makes me think you don't need them to process small amounts of chicken for private sale. Wanted to do 10-20 grass fed broilers for next year. Thanks for help in advance

If you want to do it all above board, you’ll need to get a license to slaughter, get your premises passed by Environmental Health, and then regular inspections by animal health to make sure your stunner is working right and you’re doing the job correctly.

So abbotiors won't touch them? I don't really get how chicken is the most eaten meat in the UK but can't find anyone to slaughter them

You may as well ask the same question for any other species. Most folks eat beef/pork/lamb, but it is getting ever harder to find somewhere to get them 'home killed'. It's called consolidation.

Do your 20 chickens on the Community Supported Agriculture model. Get £20 up front from 20 people, for purchase of the chicks, feed and sundries. Rear them. Then those 20 people come on D day , do whatever part of the process they are comfortable with, and take their tasty chicken home.

I can find plenty of abbotiors for my sheep and plenty for pigs and cows. None what so ever for poultry. Maybe not worth the hassle

Just in life ignorance is bliss, until it goes wrong.
20 birds at any time isn't life changing even if you get them to a size for your self and have one a week. Starting them off slowly and at 7 weeks start looking at your having one a week. Then all around you will hear about what you are doing. They may then ask if you would let them have one you sell it alive to them, after offer your services to do the deed!
Please be minded of your locality and surrounding other Poultry growers and the implication ref Avian Flu. AV. has not been the problem his year as it was in the last, but only for those that are it IS VERY restrictive. DEFRA.

I'd have a think about the economies of scale. I've no idea how much you're planning to make per chicken, but you'll need to operate on an outrageous margin if you're expecting to be properly compensated for the amount of faff you're taking on.
