Yes I can get Galileo. Would he be worth a straw? Iv these three to settle.Kingbull will probably kill them.
Goddard didnt last long.
Probably Hamlet.
Can you get some Galileo? Or Tomschoice Nation?
Angus? [emoji44]Oakchurch duster.
Is he Cogent? Thanks for the tag @Happy
@sjewart I still highly rate lodge hamlet and you have had good success him. Another option is Tomschoice Lexicon. He is by Kaprico Eravellle, a renowned easy calver. I really like the look of this lad but not got any straws yetView attachment 880632View attachment 880633
Norbreck genetics. Maybe not so handy if you are relying on a ai tech to do your inseminationsIs he Cogent?
In what way have you found the calves to be weak can I ask? Bent legs?Hi, we calve a mixture of suckers all ai to genus bulls, have had mixed results with hamlet to be honest, all turned into good quality calves but some are quite weak on the legs at birth, not a problem we have had with other breeds and cows so can only assume it is a bull related issue which has put us off further use to be honest.
He looks a nice bull! Would have tried a straw for sure but I'm dependent on an a.i. technician [emoji51]. Made enquiries but can't even get Galileo - bull dead and straws all gone. I'm not against Lodge Hamlet but in our situation the quality hasn't always been consistent and I did have a calf last year with real leg bent issues. Thanks for the tag @Happy

I'm not seeing these bulls. Il look online as my brochure is old.Having a wee search, Genus have a bull, Tomschoice Nation, very similarly bred to lexicon that may be worth a shot.

I would agree that legs seem to be an issue with Lodge Hamlet calves. I've had one calf very bent in the front legs and will be lucky to fatten and another with a back leg that tended to go out sideways at the knee - that came OK. Made me interested in trying something else.Yea some seem to have weak and bent back legs, they do straighten over time but not that impressed in comparison to other bulls we have used
