I dont have one at the moment. I have lots of railway sleepers I want to use as posts. I'm going to char them and oil them ready to go into the mud. I dont think a bull will move them?!good way of keeping your fence down.....
Anything for it to do? Like jobs or activities to occupy him? I could walk him in the bay at low tide?! I dont want sheep as they need to have their hair cut. That would just be an extra job.Have you got anything for the bull to do?
I would think sheep would be a better bet for keeping the grass down, but I have no idea on the salt problem.
I have chickens and geese and my dogs. They all play together. Another reason for not wanting sheep. My dogs would scare them! Can you have two bulls or will they fight? You cant keep a bull (or any animal) by itself
Short answer is , no, it’s not a good way that’s for sure.Is a bull a good way of keeping a meadow short? Its approximately 30 metres wide by 90 metres long. Also tidal water laps upto the grass when the bay fills at high tide. Will salt be a problem?
I dont really want to have to do the work. Plus along the edge of the bay is marshy. I think I have my heart set on a bull. I thought it when viewing the cottage! just wondered if the salt would be a problem and if it would actually eat the grassA simpler solution might be to buy a small S/H tractor and topper.

I thought it would be fine. I see them stuck in fields alone but I have literally miles to walk him when the tide is out. I wouldn't just stick him in a field and leave him.A bull on his own with nothing to do is going to end badly, you could end up getting badly hurt if it all goes wrong.
Animals on their own will go nuts , except donkeys .I thought it would be fine. I see them stuck in fields alone but I have literally miles to walk him when the tide is out. I wouldn't just stick him in a field and leave him.
I want one of my own to look after. I wanted a red Angus but I spoke to a farmer who said he will sell me a brahman bull and he said they are better?ah, thought I detected a bit of a language issue . You need to find an Anglesey farmer to lend you a placid Jersey bull .
