It should pull it no problem, I subsoiled hundreds of acres of really heavy Warwickshire clay with that exact machine using a JD 7810, tractor was on its limit on some of the steeper hills but with 240bhp you should be fine.

thank you bit worried because we are using a 340 magnum at moment but the cost of replacing it with the same is out of the question .

Neighbour pulls his 5 leg flat liner with a 140 puma but it's all relative really
How worn are the wings?
One turn out of the top link gets you another kph
One man's heavy Warwickshire clay is another man's "I've seen worse" I've got some heavy Warwickshire clay but it's no where near as bad as some elsewhere not to far away.
And how many inches deep am I you will get a different answer from a young gal or the more mature lady who has churned a sprog or 3 out 🤔🙄

Just saying 😁

Does anyone remember a certain "Seat Right Back" Pub yield thread on BFF a fair few years ago on BFF,,,,, well we could have a " how deep am I" thread in Sept to complement the " pub yields" thread

Wheres SRB when you need him

Our 5leg simba is generally on a t7.270 most of time simiar or deeper ghan 14inchs, sometimes yes can be slow going but in reality still gets the job done without much fuss (never hear them complaining about it being god awful) somtimes at a crawl but she just deals with, also have a t8 but i cant remember the last time it was used to subsoil

edit we have a wide range of soil types heavy clay to boys ground too

My experience was a student harvest job years ago, so can’t remember what type of points/wings were on it, pretty sure they were Simba parts but there might have been multiple options. We kept the wings in good order, the boss was a stickler for doing things right. Ran it at 14” deep, it was a dry summer so getting a wave of soil lifting the full width of the machine, giving a really good shattering effect.

The tractor engine was untweaked (unlike many 7810s), was on 42” rear rims and had the tyres ballasted, so never struggled for grip but the steeper hills would drag it back to about 4mph. I generally did the tramlines down hill.

We can pull a 5 leg at 14 inch up hill at 9kph with 200hp. We can put the same machine on a 280hp tractor and it can be working hard At 12 inch. Hit a tramline in a bad part of the field or a really heavy patch and if you have not changed down in anticipation will bring the tractor to a stop. You know your land better than anyone.
if the magnum is working hard at 9kph dropping down a 100hp will be slow going.
you could go to a 3 meter machine with narrower points.

No problem, 5 leg sumo subsoiler here pulled at 14" deep and a 5m Topsoiler 7" deep behind a 240 in light to heavy clay. I do have a set of wheels weights for one of the 240s.
