Was speaking to someone the other day about a drill with this name, which was a trailered combi drill where the Seed coulters were in between the powerharrow tines and the packer? Does anybody know anything about these?

Leslie Brown ( Contractor at Barnard Castle) made a few out of Kuhn Accord 4m combis.

Think he means ,a trailed thing ,had terra tyres on it ,and 4 wheels under chassis on rams , long pto shaft to a kuhn power harrow ,with accord hopper sat on top of frame at front ,then coulters behind ,firby had one a few years back ,and a bare chassis on face book last year , ,

Went to a demo organised by Richard Austin, at Kirton (near Boston), to see the prototype working on some heavy silt.
It was late in the year, on some land that had grown veg and very clarty. Ploughed and pressed in front (front mounted Dowdeswell press - that was a novelty then too).
It made a good job. Got a leaflet somewhere - I'll have a look for it tonight.

A lad on fb market place had a chassis of one to sell , we nearly bought it ,to ressurect it , but enough wild idea projects to do ,

Rumour on the grapevine is that there is two of these coming up for sale soon, and it got me thinking of the benefit of running one instead of a standard 3m combi drill?

Looks a decent set up to be honest full width packing, big hopper, and with disc coulters on the back forward speed could be decent so workrate could be good and quick and easy to drop off

There was a letter with the blurb - no leaflets were available at the demo.....
£26,950 would have been a fair old whack in 1991.
It was a bit of nice silt at the demo but very clarty (you know how it gets paddled about on to harvest veg) but it was making a good job.

This all brings back memories. The Carriage Drill was the concept of my very good friend and near farming neighbour Frank Bowser who farmed near Boston. He ran the first production drill for a number of years, and drilled for me several times. It was a great idea, and could drill into surprisingly wet conditions as well as dry. Another local farming company were still using one until only a couple of years ago. Perhaps they still have it...not sure, but could easily find out. Frank retired from farming some 17 years ago, and moved to Minnesota where his American wife came from. I am still in regular contact. If you need anymore info pm me!
