Caught in Fungicide Spray

You are all settling my worries - can't thank you enough really. I expected to have my backside handed to me for even being on the footpath with a great sprayer thundering towards me - there will not be a next time I can assure you.
My main fears were for the dogs as they are smaller and lower down so could potentially ingest more. Seeing the vet later in any case just for a chat and a check up.

Note to self - never google this stuff.
You shouldn't have to moderate your use of a public footpath, I'm sure the sprayer driver has learned also, whether its harmful or not, nobody wants pesticide applying in close proximity to them.

Most fresh fruit, apples oranges and so on are sprayed or dipped in a fungicide wax or emulsion so that they don't rot before being eaten by the consumer. In fact one of the most common animal anthelmintics [wormer] is or was also the most common fungicide used for this purpose.

Not sure what kind of 'help' JJSpringer wants. Fungicides are very commonly used in all walks of like and sprayed in all kinds of places with abandon, such as bathrooms in houses, probably used neat on cloths in direct contact with hands. Quite concentrated fungicides may be applied to feet for all kinds of nasty funguses like athletes foot and ones that infect nails etc.

I was just looking for advice from people who understand crop sprays better than I do Cowabunga. It was the ingestion of the stuff that I was concerned about and the proximity.

the operator should signpost footpaths when spraying really. Although harmless your exposure should be your choice

Dear @JJSpringers could I suggest you now leave this thread. Your question has been answered and all replies from now on are going to be farmers throwing insults at each other and at you.
Hopefully you are happy with the replies and assurance you and your dogs will be fine. Best wishes and I will be following my own advice shortly. Rarely does anything constructive come from a thread once it reaches its 4th page (often well before that)

I must be out of date, I hadn't got the legal bulletin saying such advice.
I don't actually disagree, but does your operator put signs up on footpaths, and alongside roads/houses that he's spraying against/near?

Exactly, would you carry on spraying right next to somebody? If you were out for a walk with your young children and a sprayer came round the corner and gave you a mouthful would you be happy?

I would expect most spray operators would stop. I certainly would if it was me.

That said, I would not enter a field if I thought I could smell chemical recently applied or if I could hear or see a sprayer working in it.

Sorry but when the question about “using up” chlorothalonil was asked it no longer appeared to me that this was a genuine thread started by a member of the public but more likely a journalistic fishing trip with an agenda.
I don’t believe any member of the public who’d been upset by a close encounter with a sprayer would suddenly have detailed knowledge of or any interest in chlorothalonil withdrawal and use up timetable.

I can easily see how a bit of “Googling” on such a subject would easily lead to TFF and then on to CTL withdrawal without any difficulty.
I think we’ve had far more suspicions new posters in the past.

If you can't see the intent behind his posts I'd suggest you're naive

I agree.

Alarm meme strikes again.
