The Sencrop wether station on the TFF / Agvendor stand has 37.3mm since 5.30 yesterday when we left

I've been attending this show since the late 90's. Recently the show has been getting smaller and smaller with less exhibitors and less of interest. I remember when you could not physically walk around the show in 4 hours as opposed to this year where four hours walking meant stands seen, conversations had and ready to go.

I don't see a future for this show if it continues to go downhill like this. I'd sooner spend my time and money at LAMMA in its current format as we got far more from it.

I didn't attend this time. Was intending to go today but a combination of weather and other commitments lead me to decide yesterday to stay at home.

I probably won't go either next year if at Duxford.

It's a shame that costs (or profits) have lead to the decline in the event as a whole

Back home, arrived 8am and unfortunately even then 2wd cars were getting stuck 100m into the car parks! Can I say a huge thank you to @allimcg and the rest of the organisers who have probably had a pretty rough day today. Also thank you to the exhibitors who turned up and were offering copious amounts of tea, coffee and food to keep morale up!!

Unfortunately it looked like a considerable amount of exhibitors didn't turn up to their stands today, for whatever reason. Pretty disappointing walking down rows and many stands just shut up, or been taken down overnight and left.

Echo comments that the show was smaller than when I went in 2017 and not on the same scale as 5-6 years ago, but that's a sign of the times. I rarely go to Cereals with a specific aim, more to just wander round, bump into familiar faces and have a chat/drink etc. And on that front it was a success!

Had a pretty good day despite the weather, attendance was definitely well down and feel sorry for a lot of the stand holders as trade will have been down. However it was nice to be able to have a proper conversation with the people I wanted to speak, to rather than been rushed or having to wait half - hour to get to them.

Rain didn’t bother me at all as I went prepared in the 4x4 with waterproofs and Wellies, can’t believe people where walking round in shoes though:facepalm: (mainly students and young women:rolleyes:).

Interesting debate in the conservation tent @Two Tone sorry I didn’t get chance to say hello.

All in all I’ve had a pretty enjoyable day, and feel it was worth the 3 hour trip each way (not home yet thought, currently in the services on the m62 as traffic is stopped:banghead:), getting free tickets was definitely a bonus to:whistle:

Got the e mail at 6.30am to say it was on which was a good job as I was 120 miles from home by then ! Got there at 9.20am in mighty Peugeot 306 and drove to parking spot unaided. Much smaller show than 3 years ago when I last went and a general lack of enthusiasm due to rain and mud but thanks to staff and firms for all the effort, can t beat mother nature !!
Got back to car at 2pm as nearly 5 hour drive home and waited for a gap to head for gate, all going well but some young t...its in a Hi Lux cut me up and then stopped on start of metal track causing me to have to stop and I was stuck!! Gate man gave them a right b..licking but luckily 4 blokes got out of other trucks and gave me a push to get going again, thanks who ever you were .

So.....anyone learn anything new?
Yes.
Sometimes wellies in June are necessary!
That this event still happens when it is wet.

Sorted out my plans for next year’s rotation which will now include Naked Oats, and possibly Soya as well as OSR. Autumn seed Is ordered, including Acasia.
And a new 6 row barley that is BYVD resistant that won’t make losing Deter such a problem.

Learned loads about No-till and that grants are available to help purchase a Drill.

Met loads of old friends too.

Well done @allimcg and your team for making it all happen in the worst conditions I can ever remember at any Cereals event. I spent two days at the show and still didn’t see everything. I came away very happy.

A lot of people have worked really hard for this event and deserve our thanks, probably more than ever in the conditions they have endured. However I do think its future could be in doubt, it seems to have lost its "I must go appeal" , I am only a 30 min drive away and cereal farming is in my blood, but I just could not motivate myself to attend, I cant really explain why but it doesn't appeal any more. I will happily attend my local agricultural show next week and give it my full support, maybe I am getting old and miserable who knows!!!

Not sure what all the complaining is about to be fair, it’s only rain and mud, had my shooting coat on and wellies so weather wasn’t a problem at all, went and talked to someone in a tent or stand for the heavy showers, got there at 8am and left at 4, got most of what I went for plus some other interesting things. Well done to organisers on what must have been a challenging week.
