All the while you’ve got the can cooking red you won’t have a problem with strong oil. It’ll bung the muffler if she doesn’t run hot. Does it have a spark arrestor? A small mesh in the outlet.

have to roll father in laws hedge cutter muffler in the fire every season to clean it up.

heck ill go twice as much for a tankful, 25.1....
mind you its good quality oil .
No, that (more oil in the fuel) will make it leaner still. Just adjust the airscrew ⅛ turn and see if it improves the exhaust temp issue?

Reason I was asking is a lot of small 2stroke engine manufacturers say to use more oil for the first tankful, and people think "tankful" means a 5 litre mix.

Oil quantity won't affect her much when you're up in the 40:1-50:1 bracket compared to down in the 25-32:1 because that's quite a lot of oil (which is replacing fuel goingthrough the jet) IYSWIM

you'll either need less air or more fuel

no doesnt say nuttun about more oil for running in in the operators manual ,just 50 .1 as per. but i will add a little bit more for a litre or 2.

i would give the H screw a turn but i cant because its a shape that i dont have , and ordered one which aint gonna come for a while, i might even cut a slot in that screw with a plasma dics just to get on, as ive got behind with firewood and it gets bedy cold evenings with no other form of heating in the house:cautious: and hes the best one for the job.

No, don't add oil, as per my other posts doing so will make it run hotter still

People think fuel is like sauce where the thicker it is, the " richer" it is but ,as you say, the thicker it is the less petrol is getting in so it needs opening up.
Seen the results of it a couple of times on MX bikes, back in the day.
Lad adds oil to the jerrycan, then Dad adds oil to the jerrycan, then the piston melts 🤦‍♂️

hence trying to be clear on what NOT to do to richen the mixture 👍

i think its the catalytic converter that's thrown me , they get hot dont they , how bout drilling it out ...

but the heat from that spread to the rest of the muffler as well orange red which didnt seem right ,

Are they accessible from outside or do you have to do some dismantling?
out side ,all with a letter marked on the plastic usually , idle and low one are simple slot but the H one needs a special socket tool , with potentially different shapes of ,on different carbs. /makes of saw.

i will have to wait a dd one to come for me to use, Cat. converter is gone tho, drill bit /burr took him out easy,:sneaky: that should cool it down a fair bit, which better for the engine i reckon, just got to tune the carb accordingly ...

for convenient adjustment without the need for the special driver tool just cut a slot on the head of the H screw with a Hacksaw, carefully done to keep central and not too deep. Need to take the carb off so you can get at it but worth doing as then the same screwdriver can be used for all 3 adjustments 😌
and he's running like a sewing machine now and cooler.

Happy days.
