Ive just serviced some of our tractors Jd 6930 and 6210r ap We service to JD recomendations and the 6930 it due to have its transmissiom oil changed. I am thinking of not changing it . Its suprising how much trans oil we use with the occasioal burts trailer pipe and the bit thats lost when unplugging pipes ect I am thinking that maybe the oil is ok by being topped up with new oil through losses
How often do the rest of you drop trans oils

Every 1200 hours on my 7480
50 liters of oil and a filter is cheap to a vario

know a few. that used to drain trans oils out and keep it. to top up old. yard tractors etc etc
know what yer saying. working in a forest at the moment and the digger. eats hoses just for fun always getting oil added and big amounts. 100 odd lts each time a hose blows after 4 hoses it's had a full change

Jd auto power ,oil out every 1000 ,filters 500. Engine 500 ,can get 1000 out of fuel ,good filters on tank and use en 590 , or is that the norm now , Front hubs 500 ,axle 1000.
Greased every time filled with fuel ,
Backend oil comes out clean ,but save it to use in old 6610 ,top up ,as have an odd leak on irrigators ,and it does around 400 hrs a year ,
Use witham oils @76masseyman , never had any issues , most hours out of 4 cyl was just over 15000 ,

I know we over service . I change engine oil at 500 hours using Jd +50 oil at the same time i do trans and hyd filters
The book says back end fiters 750 hours A 6930 holds 60ltr from memory so it aout £130 for oil 6210r holds 110 ltr £250 with price of filters servicing costs now ad up

Piece of mind ....Yes you do all this ,then a 30 series ,drops a wheel bearing at 4400 hrs and takes half shaft ,epicyclics ,runs trumpet housing ,and fill auto power with what looked like a melted down hammer , but the jd boys stripped it , and redid it ,and cleaned it out , it went on to do over 12000 , jd stood behind it ,
,how do folk with multple tractors old and new deal with oil contamination , through different machines , that draw oil ,

Model numbers suggest you run older equipment so I wouldn't skimp on servicing.
If you're buying newer and shifting them on regularly at low hours I wouldn't worry too much, as long as you cover any warranty requirements.

Filters are 750hrs oil is 1500hrs is it not ? That's what I've always done on our JD's autopower included and never had any issues

.................. what.........you have to change the oil !!?!

I didn't think you needed to if you are just a stockman !! :D:D

you only need to top it up when the loader cant lift higher than the bonnet and top up the engine oil (with clean oil, and spill some over the engine) after its been knocking and seized solid! Fan belts only need replacing after tractor’s been jump started every day for a week aswell.

Some on here think I’m joking........

You are correct as I said I change trans filters early
Surly though oil quality is due to the amount of work it does
If the tractor is doing a lot of road work and heavy draft then it probably needs changing
But if tractor is on lighter work then it could be left longer
May be I should send a sample to be tested. I think that we probably replace 25% per 500 hours through natural losses and burst pipes etc
