My ford ranger blew up, engine now wont start. Looking for a decent pickup to do a bit of light work and some towing, bit of offroading etc. general round the farm stuff. Can be rough so long as it will get through an MOT. Could have a sack of straw for a seat for all i care if it is mechanically sound as I have a semi decent car for anything nice. Don't want to spend very much money really, a grand at most. Anything about?

So all you want is something with a good engine, gearbox, 4wd system, lights brakes and windows but not rotten ? But for less money than a breaker?
I want something that runs, doesn’t have to run well just well enough to get through a mot. Must be something a bit cosmetically buggered about for cheap money I thought just to use as a farm truck. I was thinking something 20-30 years old ought to be cheap.

I know what you are saying, the problem is rust and rot. Also when you get to the cheaper but useful end of the market there's a lot of competition as there's a lot more folk with £1000 spare than £3000. I suppose what you want is a pickup that has been used as a scratching post by a herd of cattle....

Thats the bit that will ruin the budget you have. Basically you want something capable of 13 months plus mot for under a grand, but still worth a couple hundred as scrap. I don’t think you’ll find much without raising your budget a bit. Anyone already running that age machine will run it until it won’t pass its next mot & then sell it on with 6-11 months left on it.

I've still got this for sale.
Another £500 might get it through the MOT, I dunno.
Just realised you're in Somerset though, maybe a bit far to north Wales.
Put that on Facebook in the Isuzu trooper groups, that'll go for export for twice that price In days I'd imagine
