Any trade secrets for maximum success ?

Good condition animals and following the timings as close to the letter as possible.

CIDR synch is only forcing an ovulation - you still need the other components that make up a successful conception.

Anything above 50% and you've done well.

I'm talking from a reproductive tech on dairy cows.

Fag packet maths says for a total cost of £25/cow for the CIDR sync. If you beat it that's great but it shouldn't be any more.

We would expect the remaining 50% empty cows to come cycling between 10 - 21d after service.

when we started to do it, we aimed for a week early, so the 'failures' would get a fair chance of staying with in block, but, now, we just give them a jab of oestrogen, £2.00, and an oestrotect strip £0.68, and serve to bulling, and getting 60% + holding.

Prostaglandin not oestrogen.
Different came with block calving dairy to synching sucklers. The OP is aiming to AI all the animals on the same day hence the need for a CIDR.

Cidr's here are £6.75 each
10cc of receptal is £20
20cc of estrumate is £29

Given the programme that i use needs 5cc of receptal and 2cc of estrumate per beast and 1 cidr:

£6.75 + £10 + £2.90 = £19.65. Plus AI.

AI is usally £20 per cow (i dont do it myself) but when a group is done it becomes £10 a cow.

£19.65 + £10 = £29.65 per cow.

I buy my stuff in ROI as it is cheaper and no VAT needs to be paid. Would be around 15% dearer in NI plus VAT.
