Cloned Plate

Just had a letter from the Avon & Somerset police requesting that I cough up the name and address of a driver involved in an RTA in somewhere called Hinton Saint George.

Cited plate number is indeed ours. Unfortunately it belongs to a JD6215 that has never been further than Gwynedd.

Surely their ANPR systems would flag up the vehicle?

Anyway, bandit country the SW

I do t get it if your going to clone a plate at least get one from the same make and model and colour master criminal’s they are not

Yeh I agree 2 minutes on Auto trader you'd be right.

A TW35 plate on a Fiesta's igniting the fire.

Ones I know off are the right Model but wrong colours... One showed up on GMP Traffic twitter abandoned.

I would writeto the chief constable and ask him what sort of detectives he employs if they think a tractor registered miles away was involved.

Probably one of these ...

Reading today ,,poor woman in London had her car cloned ,the plate was a car identical to hers ,,20od thousand pounds of fines ,tickets ,congestion chargers ,,bailiffs demanding payments ,,its taken her nearly two years to get it sorted .
As said earlier, many of them can’t be very bright if they clone the plate from a completely different vehicle.
Thank god for that as it must be a right nightmare if they have the intelligence to clone the plate from an identical vehicle

I had similar a few years ago but it was another tractor and it was within reasonable range for it to have been me, which it wasn't and nor had I been anywhere near.
Still have a record on my insurance about it though.
Fast forward to a month ago and I am taxing my tractor and it's telling me the reg is wrong. Couldn't figure that out because I was looking at the tractor at the time and the reg was right. Anyhow, eventually got the V5 and indeed it was wrong, the tractor number plate was one letter different to the V5. Tractor was 12 years old and been here since new, plate had been wrong when it came from the dealer.

Wonder if the tractor that did crash had got my reg plate.

Had the old Burgess in Shrewsbury do that on a tractor... Sent out 2 (or possibly 3) tractors with the same plates!

My father bought a new deutz for some reason we had to remove the number plate and there was another underneath, with a completely different number

I think there are so many cloned plates about it is fsirly safe to chsllenge any of these letters and only pay up if they have a good frontal picture of you.
But be careful, telling lies about your whereabouts that day is criminal if it is a traffic offence, but parking is another matter!😉
