Closamectin pour on - when to apply?

Easy question this one.

I'm bringing inside in the next couple of days some in-calf heifers that have been at grass since June. When should they get the pour on? I always do it within a few days of housing but now I'm wondering if i should be leaving it 6/7 weeks?

I remember leaving it until the fluke would be old enough to kill..... kills fluke at 7 weeks... I think we left it 8wks.
I kinda thought that but then i came across this which confused me a bit.

Personally I'd treat them now with a cheap pour on wormer and then closamectin later in the winter which might coincide nicely with when/if they get lousy. That's my gang though...... yours may be entirely different!
Thanks. Sounds a decent enough idea.

Cheap ivermectin pour-on just now and drench with fasinex in a couple of weeks? Kills fluke at a younger stage, as long as you have no resistance issues to triclabendazole. Could jag with trodax 7 weeks later as an insurance policy

Done it for ages now. Although I have used Ivomec Classic injection the last 2 years at housing as my local supplier has done me a really good deal on it.
Then after 2 months get the closamectin out. Seems too work well!

Any need to worm twice in 8 weeks?

there is if they are flukey and you go with the recommendation by norbrook: worm on housing and again if housed early or at risk.
it's expensive stuff.... some say not that effective but that's another debate.

we always get lousy just after Christmas so for us it has worked well in the past but we haven't tested positive for fluke for a while now.
