CNH autosteer intermittent error -013

I've had the above error popping up on my Tier 4b T7, usually it does it a few times a day and the only way to clear is switch the tractor off and on again, it's very annoying when drilling and everything is setup.

The error on the screen suggests to update the firmware, I've had the main dealer out and it's still an issue. It's been calibrated, I've checked all the plugs and wiring, there's no 1 scenario where it happens consistently.

Autopilot system fault code 13 "MATHERR Exception" Cause A critical Autopilot system fault has occurred. This is an operating system error. The fault condition must be explicitly cleared to resume Autopilot system operation. Possible failure modes This fault is a math library failure. It occurs when a double precision floating point operation or function fails. Note – If this is a very intermittent problem, use the display to clear the controller fault and continue to operate. Solution 1. Clear the fault code: a. On the display, check the fault detail. b. Record the fault code and then select OK. 2. Check the controller firmware version. See page 16. 3. If the fault is still not resolved, contact Trimble Support.

Sure sounds like a firmware issue - but if it was receiving bad data from some module (eg GPS). Did the dealer update all firmware, including if possible GPS etc?

Something like a rtk or radio station sending bad data might also cause such an error. Sounds like Trimble need better exception handling than that generic message tho.

What software level is in the Intelliview, Nav and receiver?

Can you narrow down when it does it, such as turning at the headland or doe it just come on randomly when engaged on the line?

The software was updated to the latest revision a couple of weeks back, what is the latest level and I can check tomorrow?

The firmware wasn't touched, I've spoken with the dealer and that will get updated next week to see if it helps.

I'm sure it cuts out when engaged and when turning on the headland, it also throws up the fault when doing normal jobs with the autosteer locked.

The Intelliview should be on version 34 ideally.
Latest versions as far as I know l.
ag372 - 9.65
Nav - 10.4.2.4

Sometimes faulty steering angle sensor can throw up funny error codes so may be worth checking the wiring to that also.

Managed to plug a laptop in today and check the codes, there was one for primary wheel angle sensor, signal exceeds calibration limit.

The steering was calibrated when the software updated so I'm thinking dodgy sensor like you suggested.

Sounds like a good place to start. Definitely worth checking the wiring too, you should be able to view the steering sensor on the Intelliview. Get someone to wiggle the harness while you watch it see if the value changes 👍

Nav is on version 9.80.10.4 so it's way behind.

I've just started it up to check the angle calibration and it's not giving me the option to see it like I'm used to, it's only giving me a roll calibration.

This is a T7HD, I know it's got a different axle but it's strange how it's different to a normal T7?

This error code typically happens if the steering calibration was done and then later the steering end stops were adjusted to allow the steering to steer wider. When the steering goes beyond the calibrated end stop then you get the error.

you might also see it if the calibration was done poorly and the steering was not held hard against the end stop during the calibration.

and I suppose you could see it if the steering end stop bolt had some wear after a long time.

(normally when the NAV-13 error appears then you should see a 15xxx error on the instrument cluster for a few seconds, that’s a more helpful error code to know)
