Collapsed lung

Hope you are getting better.

Not sure a collapsed lung is sufficiently illusory to go into a Manflu section, though. People might start taking Manflu seriously.

Plus I never knew you were tall and thin; I had always assumed you were very sturdy and stocky. Thinking of how I got that impression, I realise it is subliminal suggestion; I'm getting my impressions from your avatar.

Off to find a picture of a gazelle, now, to see if it works for me.

Hope they soon mend you up @Henarar is there someone to help @farmerclare with the work while you are laid up?
I am back now it seems that its ok to my surprise really, I feel a bit sore but am OK, just got to take it a bit easy and go back on Monday unless it all goes wrong before that

I would like to say again how good they are in hospital, you only seem to here of the bad things but they have been great in dealing with this

Got up this morning all ok, walking up to do the cattle it felt like I had pulled a muscle in my side, by the time we had done the cattle about an hour and a half I could hardly breath and in really bad pain so I went inside, by the time Clare got in from seeing the sheep I had been sick and was is hellish pain so we thought we better go to hospital, nearly passed out on the way but that was just @farmerclare driving
they done an x-ray and found I had a collapsed lung so they took me to resus and got three litres of air out of my chest
back home now and feel not to bad but a bit sonked out, got to go back tomorrow just to make sure
apparently it quite common in tall thin men for this to happen for no reason
We thought the staff at Musgrove hospital were great and done a really good job (y)
Glad your ok ! just an excuse for an afternoon off likely :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO: Just joking get well soon bud !

Sorry to hear you've had problems @Henarar .

I'm pleased to see you recognizing the local team for their care too, they usually just get stick (y)

A collapsed lung is dangerous. If your other lung collapses it's a grade 1 medical emergency of course.

Our lungs aren't actually blown up, the atmospheric pressure pushes the air in. If air or fluid gets between the lung wall and your chest wall (usually from a chest puncture like a knife wound or a compound rib fracture) then the pressure is the same on both sides of the lung wall so it can't expand. Anything that allows air into your chest cavity between your lungs and your chest wall will cause it.

I hope it doesn't recur. Time to fatten up for your health

So how does the air get in there to cause the problem?
