You’re not getting a back load for a combine.
Back loads don’t even exist anyway.
is goes you are looking at £6/700

I have no idea of transport costs in the UK & I KNOW it is completely different countries & therefore not comparable, but I would have thought that was cheap.

Last year I paid $2500 to bring a tractor from Goondiwindi, about 300 km away. Admittedly, that did also include an escort vehicle

My grain truck fully loaded will burn a litre every 2.5 kms that’s at 6o mph flat open roads. If I had to guess at the fuel used to go 310 miles up hills and thru traffic and small villages I’d say youd be close to 250 litres. The wind drag also from a combine would be considerable You wouldn’t see much change from a thousand pounds just to cover costs.

Get in touch with @agricontract pdq and you might get a chance of a back load. He’s presumably getting his Claas taken up by lorry for the charity run from JoG down.

Alternatively, just make a weekend of it and form a convoy. 4th June, iirc. 310 miles to Cheshire suggests a bit north of Perth, so you might not even have that early a start on the Sunday.
