Hello

we have. JDT560, 2010, with a 20 ft header. I seem to struggle stop it pushing osr out the back. I stop it dead and check seives, but there is always a lot of seed on the ramp at the back and all’s on the floor. Struggled with with this a longtime. Any advice welcome.

Thanks in advance

These are the settings we are using on our T670 this year and getting very little out the back:

Drum 650rpm
Concave 40mm
Fan 950rpm
Top Sieve 12mm
Bottom Sieve 3mm

Not sure if this helps but at least it is a point of reference.

Thank you for that I’m very similar on serve settings, but 750 on fan and 30 on concave. I certainly will try increasing both.
Never had any issues with previous combines using traditional settings, ie wide concave and relatively closed seives, should stick to that theory really.
Thanks again

Try opening up the pre sieve more, the wider you can go the better so long as sample quality doesn’t deteriorate, by doing this it will both increase the initial air flow and allow any light material to be blown straight over the top sieve and also reduce the amount of work the main sieves have to do.

Yes, that is one thing I do. Anything passing through that is straight into the tank, so it’s easy to see how far to open it. Mind you I suppose the wider it it is the less draft applied to the other seives maybe, so a bit more draft to match perhaps?

Hello again.

I was just wondering as we are approaching 'that' time of year again; do you use the booster bar in front of the concave for OSR, or any crop for that matter.

I have been using it and wonder if this is the cause of the problems I have had in OSR?

I used to swap to the plain booster bar for OSR but the last 3 years I’ve left the serrated bar in as it’s such a pig to change. It doesn’t seem to make any difference, apart from less stress fitting it.

On the current machine we only use the booster bar in cereals, but it just rotates in and out of position with a ratchet. On the 2008 T660 we ran I think we did the same as above, after several seasons of grazed knuckles and dust down the neck we just left it in and again didn't notice any difference.

Not grown rape with our t560 but after reading the combine forum I came across some setting for rape on an axial flow.
Easy to remember all the 7s 700 fan 7 top sieve and 7 bottom, worked very well.

The theory is having too closed a bottom sieve restricts the air to the top maybe need 900 fan on the deere as the fan speeds for other crops are about 200 higher.
