Then you use a digger and a chainsaw, love big gateways, don't need to fold up drill or rolls neither. In fact there was one farming family down here who went for 24m gateways, just plant right through, genius!!! Only problem is when your livestock neighbours stock go for a wander..........

Is it that stupid? I see plenty working in the Scottish Borders and they seem to work pretty well even on the undulating land here. Pretty sure that whatever size combine you have is clearly the best though40ft is just stupid
Unless on prairie land.
The point is that the man has gone back to two less sphisticated 25ft machines to INCREASE his output and cut costs
I have never spent more than £450 on a combineI have never sprnt more than £45k on a combine
Don't they grow some specialty crops though.
Yes. Lots of grass seed, peas and an organic client.
“10ft header is best for grass seed as the wobble box arms break if you go any wider”Yes. Lots of grass seed, peas and an organic client.
Presumably the seed losses are high with swathing. They’ve been using a stripper header for years before getting the MacDons
Next time you are down I will show you Cornish hedges, narrow lanes, Granite gateposts and sloping ground. Takes a bit more than a chainsaw to solve the problem.
I think they still stripped all the grass this year.
I would like to see a 40ft swath of hay dropped on the ground and how much work was needed to deal with it, other than pushing into a heap
That is very impressive
does he manage the estate around ludlow race course with yellow combinesMy son manages a large estate, combining about 3000 acres. They are replacing two combines with one 40ft one.
