Crystalix vs Supalyx high energy

Hi all, normally a Crystalix block user but Supalyx seems a good bit cheaper local to myself. Is the Supalyx block as good a product or is it simply less money for a lesser product? Thanks in advance for any thoughts!

Is Supalyx a baked/high DM product like Chrystalix? I may be wrong, but I thought they were just soft blocks like most other feed buckets.

A better comparison would by Chrystalix vs Rumenco Maxx (or Downland Optilix, which is the Rumenco product in a different tub). Wynnstay do their own branded version too, but I think it’s a tad lower DM/softer.
Chrystalix would be the dearest of all those options ime.

Aye fair point. Not really comparing like with like. Must get a few quotes for Rumenco Maxx/ Optilix. Cheers!

Been through that process here already........
Crystalyx High Energy....................................£981.20/te
Downland Optilix..............................................£980.00/te
Wynnstay.............................................................£874.00/te
Rumevite Maxx Energy...................................£797.32/te

Rumevite Maxx last as long as Crystalyx - there's a pic on here somewhere in a thread from last year when we did a bit of a trial.https://thefarmingforum.co.uk/index.php?threads/anyone-using-downland-optilix.307604/#post-6725016

Had a delivery on Supalyx OFS (organic) the other day, didn’t bother asking crystalyx for a price as last year they were close to £1340/t and the Supalyx was £759.
Last year used ForFarmers (Dallas Keith) organic blocks which were under £850/t, did quite a few fields with 1 Dallas Keith and 1 Crystalyx Organyx the year before and they went down at the same rates. Also got half a tonne of Lifeline which was £866/t. Surprised it was more expensive than the organic?

They will go through Supalyx like butter compared to Crystalix! Optilyx and Crystalyx aren’t any more expensive when you look at price per head per day

I had a pallet of 80kg Optilix pre-tupping this year, at a little over £710/t iirc, around the same they’ve been for a couple of years. I’ve certainly never seen them, or any of the others, at anywhere near the price of (the original) Chrystalix.

The Crystalyx and Optilix prices are from the same supplier. I think he's given up trying to sell me any, as his prices are always way out every year now

All prices are for 22.5kg (or in some cases 20kg) buckets.

Just double checked the invoice. The 80kg Optilix worked out at £738/t (£59/80kg). I was quoted £736/t for the 20kg ones in August.

Your man was having a laugh!

£740 per t for crstalyx high energy delivered yesterday. I believe them to be a superior product and last longer. Never fed any concentrate last year through lambing, few lifeline buckets in as well at lambing.

Checked a tub of Supalyx GP OFS (White with green lid) this morning, not glass like crystalyx, I thought it would be same consistency as lifeline but it’s softer. Tasted alright 👍🏻 Just hope the ewes don’t hammer through them now

I think he's stopped trying to be honest.
Have gone with Rumevite Maxx for the last 2 years and haven't noticed any difference from when we used Crystalyx..........

........except their buckets have a handle  This year's buckets are a new shape :woot: - squarer with rounded corners. Probably just so they won't stack into last year's when we use 'em in the lambing pens

I use blocks not tubs, less plastic. I see Burnhills in Yorkshire is advertising Rumevite High Energy at 600 per tonne.
TFM, West Mids has sheep super energy at 530, cheap as chips!

As above, Rumevite blocks are for feeding, Chrystalix/hard blocks are for supplementing. They are doing 2 different jobs.

A Rumevite block is essentially just a high quality ewe concentrate pressed into a block for convenience of feeding. They certainly are convenient, but that convenience comes at a cost of £200-250/t over buying those concentrates in a bag.
