How much hp would I need to pull a 4.6 m cultipress on ploughed land on with fairy steep hills? Thanks

Have a 7710 and 7530 here and am thinking I will struggle. Don’t want to be crawling about and making half a job. Might be better with a unipress ?

I’d risk a cultipress it I was you they are loads better you can do it twice and first time a bit shallower so you can get a bit more grip for 2nd time.

A type 28 has cast rings, at least mine does.
So I couldn't interest you in this then.

On fairly steep hills 250 would pull it but if you want to use the levelling boards then 300hp minimum on hills.

Its more about the weight of it dragging soil uphill, you need weight to pull weight so a ten tonne tractor will pull it better than a 7 tonne tractor and will probably be more powerful i.e. a Magnum rather than a Puma or an 8 series Deere rather than a 7 series etc..

We pull ours with a 6150R on min-tilled and ploughed ground, handles it fairly well but we haven't got any steep banks. Really good machine, we have the rigid tine, drop these in and it really takes some pulling. Tines will block with not much trash though.Clever levelling paddles direct clods under the dd ring , don't work them to hard though or it will block.Would have thought your 7530 would be man enough but then I havent seen your hills !

a lot more than you think !!! 240hp on 4.6m unipress is man enuff on slight hills
but you really need dual wheels & no less HP
Cultipress be far far worse coz of its extra weight.

What sort of job will a unipress do on ploughing?

Does a canny job providing its not too heavy & if ya got stones like a lot of them forget about using one.
Getting rid of wheel marks is a bigger concern esp if you go on it when its hardly dry enuff.
Had one from new must be 10yr old now & some years its used some its not.
Proactive springs can be broken easier than you think, so can the leveling paddles.
Most parts cheap enuff & them bolt on tines are only a few ££

I think without looking on plate on mine its about 3.5t but the same Cultipress could be over 5t
thats a heck of a diff when all your essentially doing is dragging it across ploughing at speed on a diff angle also
neither of them any good if ya have an iffy back i can vouch for that

Id up HP recs by 100 on a move from a Unipress to same width Cultipress & even that might not be enuff

I had no idea these things were so heavy. I was looking at some and settled on a 6m cambridge roller instead that runs fine on ploughing behind a small 100hp tractor. I don't have levelling boards, but would such a system not do a similar enough job with lower hp requirement if it did?

I'm guessing these presses are more necessary on heavy clay?
