What’s the advantage of the 1494 over the 1394? Other than 8hp I know it’s a brown..... but curiosity has got the better of me now.

Brakes are probably the biggest difference, drums on a 13, discs on a 14.
14 is usually on bigger wheels but the same sizes were optional on the 13.
Front axle will probably be different on a 2wd, the heavy duty axle was optional on the 13.
Diesel tank is bigger on the 14.
14s are more likely to have extras such as extra spools, a tandem pump and an assister ram, although there are plenty of poverty spec ones about too.
Never had a problem with trailers that size on our 996 and it has smaller brakes than a 1394.Are the brakes on the 1394 going to cope with a 5t trailer if they’re drums ?
Had both and most of the slurry done with the 13 in a 1300g nc with 2wd as the 14 had the loader On
I always thought the 13 was the better tractor but the 14 had the better spec probably need to drive both to make up your mind as there both able to do your job
Wasn't the reversible pto optional on the 14?Something different about the pto design not sure. @Selectamatic will have the answers.
Ps selecta not seen your farming thread for a while?!
It is of course a legal requirement, but hey hoDid lots of trailer work with 1394 before trailer brakes became fashionable with 6 tonne trailers on silage spuds and corn just need common sense .You could fit trailer brakes if you wanted but wouldn't think necessary for 5 tonne
Back when I was using a 1394 it wasn't. And if people didn't use trailer brakes as an excuse to put inexperienced drivers in tractors then there wouldn't be as many accidents in the wreckers thread. It is of course a legal requirement, but hey ho
Not on 1490, possible on 1494.Wasn't the reversible pto optional on the 14?
My 1490 isn’t reversableNot on 1490, possible on 1494.
