Depends on what the shed and ground work cost. 24/48 will do 180hr 1 man comfortably. Today's prices...100k parlour 20k shed/concrete. Did the rotary need 200k spent on a shed and builders? Genuine question, you hear people say the rotary is only half the spend. But either way, Sunday afternoon when you wanna go beach with the kids, output is key. Everything else going well? You feed on the deck?

No chance.

How many litres/hr?

Big herringbones are as cheap as you can get Several around here built in the 90's very basic with galv pipe all bent locally, block built pits done by the farmer and buy the dairy kit as you want. The ones I know are still running and its what I'd probably do on my next parlour.

Makes me laugh when I see people put these in, 2 men to operate but what happens when second bloke doesn’t turn up?

At least with what the OP has done one man can fetch the cows and milk on his own no problem is the help isn’t available. So much flexibility to this idea and it can provide a good work life balance and the cost over 25 years is nothing in the scheme of things

On Thursday 26th September, we’re holding a webinar for farmers to go through the guidance, actions and detail for the expanded Sustainable Farming Incentive (SFI) offer. This was planned for end of May, but had to be delayed due to the general election. We apologise about that.

Farming and Countryside Programme Director, Janet Hughes will be joined by policy leads working on SFI, and colleagues from the Rural Payment Agency and Catchment Sensitive Farming.
