I am currently looking at up grading my keenan300 diet feeder. have a Keenan 345 with bale handler and in touch in mind. versus a triolet tube feeder. I would like the facility to feed bales but only on the fringes of the winter mostly pit silage/ maize / straw / meal diet used. dairy cow herd. pros and cons wit both anyone got experience.

I have a Keenan 160 bale handler, basically the same as a 340/345. It will do what you want easily, built like a tank, will last for years.

I feed nothing but bales through a keenan 340, no bale handler needed. Just split the bale with a shear grab into 2 or 3 pieces and dump straight in. I've done this for the past 4 years, so approximately 6000 bales, never even broke a shear bolt yet.
My next feeder will be an Abbey 15 cube twin tub on super singles, but it looks like that won't happen for years as the keenan is wearing much better than I expected, bloody thing weighs 8 ton empty, it might out last me.

We got a good deal with a 345 in December for March delivery, last one lasted 6 years very little Wrong with it. The belly needs replaced and apparently Keenan like trade ins that haven’t had a belly replaced so it was a no brainier to change as we got a reasonable trade in value. That in touch and pace is such a load of rubbish, just an excuse to get an extra 1000£ a year from u for doing pee all

I've reservations about in touch. like it sounds good. realistically I'm not going to wait for it to mix and my mix order changes depending on what I have on the loader. does it slow you down mixing

I can see if you have numerous staff feeding, pace would give consistency, for units that either feed themselves or have a dedicated feeder person I cannot see the point.

agreed mostly do the feeding myself. and could always write the load down on a piece of paper. looks like no real down fall to changing to a tube. bar small mixes maybe
