Disco commerical converted?

Seeing a few Disco 4 Commercials which have been converted to full interiors online. Are there any downsides to buying one; are they lower bhp? Do they need a psv rather than an mot? Do they have any insurance issues?

Obvs the reason I am looking, is they are priced cheaper than an equivalent HSE!!

I had a passenger hse i think a 13 or 14 plate. I was never as glad to see a motor go down the road never to come back.

We have had a 2010 Disco XS for 8 years, not much bother with it, love it apart from the tax and mpg!

Looking another (cheapish) one to stick the family into as third baby has just arrived..

Had three Disco commercials, no different spec to the passenger model of the same age. First one was stolen, that was a lovely motor.

Really annoyed that I couldn't get another one when the last ones contract finished, new model is stupid money and as for that cockeyed rear number plate.....

Post 14 ones are cheaper tax, but double check I had a 2011 and tax was a killer, got 16 landmark now cheaper tax and more power nothing beats em. Plus 8 speed box is Better on fuel.

Only down side is no tv in the rear headrest. I’m looking at doing a similar thing to you. Putting a proper set of rear seats in, not the conversion ones.

Not sure if the commercial have rear heating controls like the hse has if specced.

Same engine and normal MOT. No insurance issues but will be on a light commercial policy rather than a car policy so no different from a pick up.
Had 5 x Disco Commercials. All been awesome with very few issues. If it's been fully converted to a passenger vehicle, maybe worth checking V5 to see if classification has been changed?

By contrast, my 15 plate D4 Commercial went down the road in 2019. Never realised how disappointed I would be to never see it again. Awesome vehicle that I really miss!

Initially the D4 Comm was replaced with a new D5 Comm but I was disappointed with it and ended up buying a V6 Amarok. I dislike pick ups but out of all the ones we own this is way better than all the others.
Is the commercial have air or spring suspension
Commercials all had air suspension
What disco 3 came on springs. I'm thinking of going from air to spring here. Too many issues with the suspension.
The D3 entry level 'S' model came with springs originally.

Still can't make my mind up about these. Not seen one close up but a few i've seen on the road some look ok and others not so sure.
Priced up a 110 Commercial and ended up at over £50k incl the VAT for a mid spec. Too much!

its no defender but having driven one they are a big step up from a disco 4

if the 90 / 110 commercial is sub 40k inc vat thry will sell well i think - way better than a similar price hogher end double cab

Are you claiming the VAT back after you have put the seats in? If so you are on dodgy ground if you put original LR ones back in. To claim the vat back they need to be a bench seat like an Atlantechs conversion that folds up to create a bulkhead and are for 'occasional use'

Problem is the defender 110 commercial is not 10k over a pickup its nearly 20k. So priced themselves out before they start. Shame as the volume of doublecabs show its still a large market with a lot of potential but land rover seemingly only want the high end market, which is fair enough, unless a recession approaches

Defender or discovery way better to drive than any pickup, much more capable for towing too.
Big discounts on discovery extra 10% for Nfu members

I bought a D5 commercial from Duckworth Landrover at Market Rasen. 100 miles away, brilliant people to deal with. Actually understand farmers and aren't just interested in flogging finance. Good chunk off with NFU discount and none of my local dealers could get anywhere near on price. All done via phone and email and delivered to the door.
