Down cow help

I’ve got a cow been down about 4 days, all sorted now other than the resulting nerve damage/ muscle weakness on her back legs. She has swelling in the muscles up the back of her left back leg. She has been lifted several times and has improved loads is lovely and bright eating drinking and so on. Only problem back legs. Is there anything I can do or give her to help? Has had all usual so calcium mag etc and just after advice for specifically the leg problem. Any thoughts welcomed.

4 days? Quick injection of lead. Sorry.
Rubbish! Just had a cow down for 10 days and she is now up and fine.
Keep trying to lift her, make sure she has plenty of water and food and give her a shot of antibiotics along with the anti-inflamatories in case she gets infection in her legs. Persevere. 4 days is just too soon to give up!!

if you have a hip hoist lift her up and let her down slowly so the back legs get full movement, do it several times, presume she does stretch her legs out when lifted ?

I have yes and that’s what I’ve been doing, she tries to walk so I just slowly follow her with loader to let her move her legs around. It’s just a complete lack of muscle strength that’s the issue, she knuckles a little but not awfully.

Your an extreme optimist. I've a footpath on farm, no cow will be in a pen for more than 4 days being lifted before shot. Not keen to be the next one in the guardian.

+1
if you have the time, and the cow is bright and eating.

If she is that important, ask a vet to check her for torn ligaments etc, they can tell a lot. If there is a something serious like that, it can manifest itself as suddenly falling as you describe, in which case take heart that she gets to die on farm, not be shut in a tin can and taken down the road. Death isn't the worst thing that can happen. Hopefully though, some TLC will sort it out.
