EFCO Chainsaws

Had one was ok for time used it but replaced with a husquvarna that was slightly more expensive two years later.
Had problems with carburettor and drive sprocket had not faired very well with it. Didn’t have time to look at it and price to get someone to fix it meant new chainsaw best option at time.
Husquvarna has done similar work now and has worn in better. Was an able saw however.

I know what you mean but I have yet to kill a cheapo saw, I just want to be certain I can buy new chains and bits for them so they do actually live a few years before I can't run it any longer.

Look at Echo and Makita as well for a non premier division chainsaw. I'd rather pay another £100 for one of them than an ebay one.

Efco (and Oleomac) are Italian made saws. Far better than Chinese rubbish but still not that durable for heavy duty use. I've had various parts off online sellers in the past with no problems.
Makita and Dolmar(they're the same thing) do have professional saws that are up there with Stihl and Husky and I've found parts to be considerably cheaper.
Any worthy chainsaw/mower dealer should be able to supply any type of chain to suit any saw too. Or ebay, chains direct, newsawchains etc, etc.

Efco parts are readily available online from UK suppliers. I dropped my neighbours brush cutter and broke a couple of plastic parts. I thought i was looking at buying him a new one but every part was available and at very reasonable prices. I found parts catalogues online for all of their models.

Just looked it up cheaper Efco chain saws are made in china and the more expensive pro models as you say made in northern italy

I have an Efco! It’s well over 20 years. Never gives trouble. Local Stihl guy services it once every few years. Wouldn’t hesitate to buy. Casual user don’t need expensive tools.

The 'old boys' in my local mower /saw repair workshop love the efco stuff, they really seem to rate them. Not so many kind words for modern Stihl stuff I think, they reckon they're under engineered and built to a price unless you buy the pro stuff

a few hire places in nz had oleomac saws and trimers thats saying alot hire gear tends to get hammered a bit more than full-time users
just brought 2 small echo saws and love them
some saws are throw away models not worth fixing chains bars and sprockets even on cheeper saws are mostly common so easy to replace
most cheep saws yer have payed for them in the first few days work any thing over that is all a saving

I've got a makita starts first time every time..... it's battery powered. For small jobs alot easier than getting the petrol saw out.
£100 I already have batteries.

I’m sure wranglerstar proved that those brushless motors can over come the fibres of chainsaw pants which is alarming.
