Not disputing the rationale for reducing the tolerances , & obviously we will export some grain , .....but why is zero mention made of the tiny detail that we are no longer EU members ???!

Because we still have to meet their spec if we want to sell to them.

I remember in maths at school there were some thick kids. The teacher would bring them out to the front and ask them questions. Every time they got the wrong answer they got the ruler across their knuckles. They never could get the answer right because they didn’t have the means to work it out, so they got the ruler time after time. It was a cruel pointless sadistic exercise.
A lot of the new regulations that are imposed on us nowadays feel just the same. Impossible to meet but doesn’t stop them giving us a good hiding.
It’s never the plant breeders fault or those who encourage 2m strips of rubbish alongside every hedge. No, they are blameless. It’s the farmer who cops it...every time.
Rant over.

it reads as though these regs will be used domestically

Some varieties susceptible
harder wheat class 2 or spring wheat are worst
Rialto and brimstone the worst

loading with a bucket also keeps the ergot mixed in auger or a loading bin into the middle off the load the ergot ends up at the edge of the truck Just like Osr pods or cleavers

Surely they have to reject bad grain? If they didn't the same situation would arise as happened at a major buyer of wheat in Hereford, where they got a reputation for accepting any old rubbish. So that's what used to sent to them for a good few years, until they got tough and rejected anything that didn't make the grade.

They can upgrade rubbish grain. I know in 2012 when we supplied the Sainsbury’s wheat they were the only in house supermarket bakery to still use 100% British wheat because of ability to bring it up to spec.
