Estrumate…vet only?

Need to jab some ewe lambs that had a visit over Christmas by a neighbours tup. They are pedigree ewe lambs and his tup is certainly not pedigree let alone right breed.

Vet is saying it’s a vet only jab, is that correct?

Luckily it is only 6 so I can take them into practice easy enough.

It can cause problems for any (breeding age?) female that handles it and for anyone with asthma apparently, and can be absorbed through the skin. As a result, restrictions on handling it have been tightened up, but at vet's discretion, officially or unofficially.

Always got it in stock at work. But it is dairy and using on cows with PRIDs in. Vet prefers us to have it as they haven't got to break into there little bottles.

I believe it can also be used to induce birth. Vet said he has come across dogs where the womb has ruptured due to owners giving some to "help things along". This is why it is controlled and not given out he told me.

I have to sign a disclaimer once a year to have any estrumate. It states all the risks and the vets keep it on file.
Wanted to synchronise 5 hfrs for ai last spring and they dispensed 5 individual doses in syringes rather than a bottle.
Mrs Whitepeak, who works at the vets, wouldn't bring it home as she was pregnant at the time and wouldn't go near the syringes.

As for those who think they are some kind of clever cheeky chappy because they imagine that they are getting some kind of special treatment from ther mate the vet because they give you a jag of what you believe to be a vet only drug, you're not, and if you were some kind of special friend that your vet will risk being struck off for, you're vet will think you're a right ₩@nk€ŕ for saying stupid sh1t like that online.
