Iv a few ewe lambs that’s lambed about a week ago. 1 was lambed by vet and checked all inside and no damage done. But she’s been pressing and pushing a slight prolapse out since. Now tonight in final check another 1 lambed about a week has full prolapse out and seems to have slight tear in it too. Have put harness on her and injected. But wondering if anyone have an idea what would be causing them to do it even after lambed ? Vets out to tb on Thursday so going to ask her to but wanted to ask here to for peace off mind before I head to bed
Thank you

No idea, but I've never been able to save a hogg from prolapse, sorry maybe 2% live.

Using a really small tup & less feed would help prevent the problem & give a much better shearling the next season. Pain releif after lambing might help.

Would suggest some pain infection and swelling if they are pushing. Antibiotics and Loxicam but I have had some which don't stop pushing
They got 3 days off pen strep after lambed and Metacam. This one stopped pushing for a few days but back now. Vets on her way out to stick her properly

Had a ewe lamb do it this week. Rectal prolapse, intestine out. Put her down. Only the second time we've ever had a sheep do it.
Iv had 2 ewes do intestines out prolapse this year. Had 1 previous many 15 years ago. Only 1 ewe prolapsed this year maybe 6 weeks from due date. The vet stitched the offending ewe lamb yesterday morning and she was pushing her hardest even at bedtime last night. Seems less under pressure today so far

Sounds like it wants a bullet to put it out of its misery.

I used to get in ewe lambs about a week or 2 after lambing, it was always one that had a hard lambing. They are always a struggle to catch out in the field.
Stopped lambing ewe lambs last year, to many issues and not worth the hassle.
I found exactly the same with lambing them and I know people say they are better mothers as shearlings but I’ve just lambed 350 mule shearlings and not had a bit of bother with them.

I found that I was having to cull to many of them after the first lambing, with either mastitis, prolapse and some struggled to get back into condition. Some people would suggest you get as many lambs from them has they stay in the flock for longer.

Lambing ewe lambs didn't suit me (or I didn't suit them, dunno which it was  ).

It's too much like walking on a knife edge, not enough feed and they don't 'do' and have no milk, too much feed and the lambs are too big to be born.

Ideally a hogg only wants one lamb and the singles can be too big. If you get them to have twins, they lamb ok but you really need to take one off so they don't bugger her or her bag up - so you've got a load of cades ( and who needs them?).

Can't do right for doing wrong with 'em, IMHO, so I stopped doing it.
